The SoL® uses its solar panel to collect sunlight and turns it into a charge. If your iPhone/iPod is not fully charged, it transfers the charge to your iPhone/iPod. When your iPhone/iPod is fully charged (or when it is not inserted), the SoL® transfers the charge to its internal battery. The charge from this reserve battery will transfer to iPhone/iPod as needed. This is called Priority Charging and is critical for efficient iPhone/iPod charging and general use.

2. What are the limitations on the solar panel?

Unlike many solar products on the market today, the SoL® Hybrid™ Power Pack for iPhone and iPod Touch can charge from sunlight as well as indoor lighting. Also, our solar panel can charge at any angle (other than downwards).

Battery life varies widely depending on how you use your iPhone/iPod, but generally the SoL® is able to triple your battery life if you keep the iPhone/iPod topped off.

On average, 2 hours direct solar exposure provides 1 hour of extra talk time.

Rapid Charging Technology is a first in the iPhone/iPod solar charging and auxiliary battery charging case market. Because of our innovative and efficient circuitry design, our iPhone/iPod Solar Case can charge 3 times faster than charging your iPhone/iPod directly from a wall charger. As an example, a normal iPhone/iPod charges from a wall socket in 3 hours, whereas the same iPhone/iPod can charge from our cases in 50 minutes. Now that’s fast.

The SoL® is absolutely safe to use with your iPhone/iPod and in fact, extends the life of these products. iPhone/iPod batteries typically start wearing out in 18 months, which begins to decrease the time that a charged battery will last on a daily basis until it fails completely. The Sync LED is located to the right of the power button; it will light up RED to indicate the SoL is charging. This is anytime the charger is connected to a USB.

You can charge your iPhone/iPod with the included USB cord; just hook the SoL® iPhone/iPod Solar Charging Case up to your computer or a standard Apple USB adapter for wall or car power. Or, when on the go, you can just use the sun! You never need to remove your iPhone/iPod from the case to charge it!

No, your solar panel is not defective, nor is it less efficient. Unevenly spaced lines on the solar panel are a common occurrence during the manufacturing process and don’t affect efficiency in any way. All solar panels have been pre tested before installation into the SoL® unit.

Yes, the SoL® contains an internal USB 2.0 circuit, and allows for the highest data transfer rates.

Our solar panels are coated with a thick layer of epoxy resin, which is very resistant to scratches. However, if scratches do occur, they will not affect solar charging functions. We recommend that if you need to dust off your solar panel, that you use a soft, dry cotton cloth.
